Postdoctoral Fellows and Guest Scholars

Belfin RV, Ph.D.

Belfin obtained his PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from Karunya Deemed University. His research interests include network science, network neuroscience and machine learning.

Graduate Students and Research Assistants

William Stanford, B.S.

William has undergraduate degrees in Neuroscience and Math from the University of Texas at Dallas. He is a second year graduate student in the Neuroscience Curriculum of the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Ph.D. Program. William is studying mechanisms by which the brains of individuals are differentially impacted in aging and neurodegenerative disease. He’s also interested in the application of deep learning to build generative models of the brain to further characterize these mechanisms. In collaboration with Dr. Peter Mucha (Darmouth).

Evert Garcia-Guzman, B.S.

Evert obtained his undergraduate degree in Applied Physics from UNC-Pembroke and is a current graduate student in the Department of Physics & Astronomy. He is working on delineating the property of redundancy in functional brain networks.

Deontae Pharr, B.S., M.S.

Deontae is completing a rotation in the lab. He obtained his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science, with specializations in Deep Learning and Big Data. He hopes to use these computational techniques to accelerate the investigation of the effects of brain disorders on cognitive functions to create translational solutions.

Undergraduate Students

Oscar Fawcett

Oscar is a senior at UNC-Chapel Hill majoring in statistics and analytics. Oscar’s research interests include the inferential statistics and analysis that can be done on network data. Currently, he is researching the different methods of comparing brain connectivity networks. This work is in collaboration with Dr. Nicolas Fraiman (Statistics).

Chloe Du

Chloe is a junior at UNC-Chapel Hill majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Chemistry and Medical Anthropology.
