Postdoctoral Fellows and Guest Scholars

Kichang Kwak, Ph.D.

Kichang obtained his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at Hanyang University in Seoul, Korea. Before joining the lab he was a Postdoctral Fellow at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Kichang is studying brain organization and reorganization in Alzheimer’s disease using deep learning approaches.

Na Young Shin, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Shin is a neuroradiologist working as an associate professor in the department of Radiology at the Catholic University of Korea. She is currently a guest scholar in the lab. Her research interests include early diagnosis and prognosis prediction in Parkinson’s disease using neuroimaging.

Belfin RV, Ph.D.

Belfin obtained his PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from Karunya Deemed University. His research interests include network science, network neuroscience and machine learning.

Graduate Students and Research Assistants

William Stanford, B.S.

William has undergraduate degrees in Neuroscience and Math from the University of Texas at Dallas. He is a second year graduate student in the Neuroscience Curriculum of the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Ph.D. Program. William is interested in studying mechanisms by which the brains of individuals are differentially impacted in aging and neurodegenerative disease. He’s also interested in the application of deep learning to build generative models of the brain that can then be systematically modified for further characterization of these mechanisms. William’s work is in collaboration with Peter Mucha (Darmouth).

Undergraduate Students

Keerti Kalluru

Keerti is a sophomore at UNC-Chapel Hill double majoring in Nutrition and Human Development & Family Studies. Keerti is assisting projects focused on brain network connectivity in neurodegenerative diseases.

Shivam Gandhi

Shivam is a sophomore at UNC-Chapel Hill majoring in Biology. He is interested in co-morbidities in Alzheimer’s disease.
